Walking my face toward the endless fauna I find it easy for my mind to escape into the vines and leaves. Another forgetful summer on this planet and nothing seems as it once was. The ability to give up has never felt so accessible in my life. I've been on this rock for almost 40 years and nothing has felt this way. The markets are flailing around like a spoiled brat in a grocery store. The divide has never been so evident and it was at this moment that I pressed play on "Benny's Got a Gun" by Blk Odyssy.
This song consolidated my feelings of a sad day in my world and brought it from 24hrs down to under four minutes. Along the way, as most good songs do, it captivated me with a story of unbridled honesty. Benny the Butcher's verse is a slow-motion video of a bullfrog leaping into the air to capture a fly, needless to say he ate. George Clinton's aroma on this track is pungent and wafting in the negative space of this record like a thick fog of funk. The entire meal is served up with flawless execution on the plating, we love to see it.
